Do you take a commission?+
No. StayBooker is your booking system, not a marketplace. Guests pay you directly via Stripe — we never touch the money.
Do I need a Stripe account?+
Yes. You'll connect your own Stripe account so payments go straight to your bank. Stripe charges standard processing fees (typically ~1.5% in the UK).
What does the 14-day free trial include?+
Full Pro features — unlimited listings, the booking widget, email confirmations, the calendar, everything. No card required up front. On day 15 you pick Starter or Pro to keep accepting bookings.
Can I switch between Starter and Pro?+
Yes — upgrade or downgrade at any time from the Billing screen. Stripe prorates the difference automatically. If you downgrade and have more than 10 active listings, the extra ones stop taking bookings until you reactivate Pro.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?+
Your booking page pauses at the end of the current billing period. Your listings, bookings and settings are preserved for 90 days so you can resubscribe and pick up where you left off.
Do guests pay a deposit or the full amount?+
Guests pay the full amount upfront via Stripe at the moment of booking. The funds settle directly into your Stripe account.
How do refunds and cancellations work?+
You set a free-cancellation window in Settings (e.g. 48 hours before check-in). Cancellations within the window are refunded automatically via Stripe; outside the window the booking is held. You can also override and issue a full or no refund manually.
Do you handle VAT?+
If you're VAT-registered, switch on the VAT toggle in Settings and add your VAT number. Receipts and confirmation emails will then show a subtotal/VAT/total breakdown reverse-calculated from the gross price the guest paid.
How do guests find my booking page?+
Two ways: share your direct link (staybooker.co.uk/b/your-slug) or embed the booking widget on your existing website. Guests browsing the StayBooker explore map can also find you, but most bookings come from your own marketing.
Can I list multiple properties or units?+
Yes. Starter includes up to 10 active listings; Pro is unlimited. Each can have its own pricing, max guests, photos and availability.
Can I embed the booking widget on my Squarespace / WordPress / Wix site?+
Yes. Copy a single iframe snippet from your dashboard and drop it onto any website builder.
What happens to a booking before payment?+
Bookings are held as 'pending' until Stripe confirms payment. Pending dates aren't blocked, so the slot stays available until someone actually pays.
Can I block off dates manually?+
Yes. Use the calendar to block any date for personal use, maintenance, or holidays.
